Illustrated farm scene with the farmer ringing a bell as cows and sheep leave the barn, bronze, silver and gold sprinklers watering crops, garden bushes and a parked horse.
Fan mod by @kucingnpc. English and Indonesian editions, version 0.0.2.

Version 0.0.2 of my Harvest Moon: Back to Nature mod is here. The first release was v0.0.1, with Horse Freedom, the sprinkler, the quality-of-life markers and the spouse helper. This one fixes bugs from that release, makes the horse safer, reworks sprinklers into three tiers, and adds a slower clock, easier fishing, a herding bell and garden decorations.

The English and Indonesian editions have the same features. The screenshots below are from the English edition.

Important: saves are one-way

v0.0.2 loads your v0.0.1 diaries. A diary saved in v0.0.2 should not be loaded in v0.0.1 or in the unmodded game, because the new sprinklers and decorations are items those versions do not know. If you might want to go back, copy your memory card before your first save in v0.0.2.

Sprinklers in three tiers, now at Saibara

Sprinklers moved from the supermarket seed display to Saibara's shop, in three tiers.

  • Bronze: 5,000 G, waters 8 tiles.
  • Silver: 10,000 G, waters 18 tiles.
  • Gold: 20,000 G, waters 36 tiles.

S is the sprinkler, x is a watered tile, and - is outside its coverage.

Bronze Silver Gold
                          xxx-xxx
                          xxx-xxx
xxx xxx-xxx xxx-xxx
xSx xxxSxxx ---S---
xxx xxx-xxx xxx-xxx
                          xxx-xxx
                          xxx-xxx

The sprinkler you already own from v0.0.1 becomes a Gold sprinkler. Equip one and press Square to place it, and face it with empty hands and press X / Cross to pick it up. Watering starts the morning after you place it. Outdoor watering still follows the game's winter rule, and the greenhouse works all year.

A slower day

The in-game clock now runs at 70% of its normal speed, so each day lasts longer. Villagers still walk and move at their normal speed.

Easier fishing

Fish bite after half the usual wait, bites happen more often, and you get more time to reel them in.

Herding Bell (experimental)

The ordinary Bell sold at Yodel Ranch can now move your whole herd. Ring it inside the barn on a sunny day outside winter, between 6:00 and 16:59, to send your cows and sheep out to the pasture. Ring it on the farm to bring them all back into the barn. The screen blinks to black for a moment while they move.

Pregnant and sick animals stay inside when you send the herd out. The horse, the dog, chickens and visiting animals are never moved. If the bell can't send anyone out, because of rain, winter or the time, it works like the normal Bell.

Animals left outside overnight miss the barn feed bins and the Harvest Sprites, just like in the original game. Ring the bell on the farm before you go to sleep.

Garden bushes (experimental)

Gotz now sells two decorations for your farm: a Bush for 400 G and a Flowering Bush for 600 G. Equip one, press Square to place it on the farm field, and press X / Cross with empty hands to pick it up again. Tools, weather and weeds leave them alone. They only work on the farm field, not in the greenhouse.

A safer horse

You can still ride your grown horse beyond the farm, now only in ordinary outdoor areas. Doors, both mines and departures on festival and other special days are refused while you ride, and riding home always works. If you leave the horse outside the farm, it goes back to the stable the next morning. Whistling brings a parked horse to you.

Bug fixes

  • The Indonesian May-missing event works again. The original Indonesian disc had two damaged sectors in its event data, which are now restored, and the translation is unchanged.
  • New Game no longer crashes during the opening.
  • Talk and gift markers above villagers show correctly again.
  • Placing a sprinkler no longer rots lumber in your field.
  • Hammers no longer destroy placed sprinklers.
  • The Indonesian sprinkler description shows a comma instead of a closing bracket.

Removed for now

The spouse helper is gone in this version while I rework it. Old diaries that used it still load. An unfinished assignment is dropped, and affection already spent on it is not refunded.

Before you play

Back up your memory card first. Cold-boot the new ISO and load your diary through Continue. Use in-game diary saves, not emulator save states from an older version.
